Do I need a permit to construct a fence?

For fences up to 6 feet in height, there is no permit fee, but City review is required to review location, height, and materials used for proposed fences, up to 6 feet in height before the fence is put up. A site plan showing location and setback from property lines and all structures must be submitted. For your convenience, you may contact the Planning Department to check for an existing site plan to use to draw on the location of your proposed new fence.

For landscape block walls and fences over 6 feet in height, a City building permit is required.
